Jon Petersen

Jon Petersen graduated from Bangor High School in Bangor, WI in 1999. He went to the University of Wisconsin Platteville and joined the United States Army National Guard in June of 2000. His unit was based out of Arcadia, WI, Charlie Company 1/128th INF of the 32nd Brigade. Jon graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 2003 with a bachelor’s in criminal justice. After graduating from the police academy in spring 2004, Jon was deployed to Samarra, Iraq, and left the state of Wisconsin beginning in April-2004 until December 2005. When he returned home, he was hired by the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections in 2006 as a sergeant. He promoted to Supervising officer 1 or Lieutenant in 2011. He promoted again to Staff Development Program Specialist-Senior in 2014, or training captain, and is currently still in that position. Jon continues to further his education and is presently working on getting his master’s in criminal justice from the Distance Education Program at the University of Wisconsin Platteville. His anticipated graduation date will be Fall 2020. When he is not working on his master’s degree, Jon likes to hunt, camp, canoe, and kayak or walk with his dog on the many trails near his home in Madison, WI. Jon is married to his wonderful wife and they have one daughter who is seven. Jon’s passion is writing, and he hopes to become a successful author one day. He has been writing stories since 1999. He will continue to pursue his goal of becoming an author and will continue writing to hone his craft. Hard work and perseverance are two qualities that Jon abides by. Both will eventually payout.
