Artist’s Corner: Blade Honer Series

How the Blade Honer series covers imagery and typography was chosen.

This particular set of covers was one of my favorites to do. Loved the cross branding on these. Like the stories, dark and primal.

The raven and shield are the cross branding on the back of the cover. The Futhark runes were chosen to reflect part of the story line and its general gist as related to the Vikings and Heathenry.

Each book has a quote from the story that is spoken by the main character, Thorbjörn. The typography was done to reflect a very “Hollywood” feel of Vikings, like the movies or television shows currently running on the entertainment platforms at the moment.
