Elf Your Neighbors, A Holiday Tradition

You’ve Been Elfed!

This family tradition was started a few years back when my neighbor “Elfed” us during the Christmas holidays. This is how it works:

  1. Get containers that are Christmasy (dollar store is good).
  2. Get treats and goodies to fill the container
  3. Do up a few of them, tape the “You’ve Been Elf’ed” poem on each container
  4. Play a cute game of Elf-a-fied nicky nicky nine doors (don’t forget to leave the Elf container at their door)

Here’s the poem, but you can find printable ones with elves on Google too:

For mischief, nothing beats an Elf!

He’ll find a basket on his shelf,

And fill it full of treats and fun.

Then drop it on the porch and run!

In fact, an Elf brought this to you.

In hopes that you will make it two.

To share the joy and season’s cheer.

With family, friends and neighbors near.

So place this poster on your door.

To signal that you don’t need more.

Then find a basket or a bag,

And fill it full of holiday swag.

Add instructions so they’ll know

The way to make the “Elf-‐ing” grow.

Then stand back and applaud yourself,

For you’ve become a Holiday Elf!
