The following writing prompts are a fun way to stretch your creative muscles.  They can be used in a variety of ways; to enrich a current work-in-progress, to test out different genres and styles of writing, or just as writing exercises to hone your craft.

  • A new home that has a secret
  • Describe the ideal treehouse from a child’s perspective
  • A sport with very high stakes

  • Old West Dystopia or Victorian Romance
  • Describe a disastrous wedding from the perspective of the mother-in-law
  • Use the chorus of your favorite song as inspiration for a short story
